Product Owner

Product Owner is an accountability within Scrum that an existing Product Manager should take on. This person sets the tone for product leadership and defines what product success means, using modern product management practices to maximise value.

Fulfilling this accountability means understanding customer needs, making choices from evidence, and changing direction when results challenge assumptions. The Product Owner develops and communicates a clear Product Goal and orders the Product Backlog so that those choices are visible and understood.

Product ownership requires the authority to make decisions and collaboration with stakeholders and Developers to act on them. The organisation must respect those decisions and support learning about what improves the product for its customers.
